Company-focused Leadership Development Programs
Numerous opportunities are available for recent college graduates to
participate in Leadership Development Programs (LDP) on an operating company
level. Programs are available for those interested in scientific and technical
disciplines through the Research & Development Leadership Program (RDLP), as
well as for those interested in commercial and related fields, such as sales
and marketing.
The Research & Development Leadership Program offers participants the
opportunity to work with businesses within Johnson & Johnson Consumer
Companies, Inc. Sales (SLDP) and Marketing Leadership Development Programs
(MLDP) are with Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. (Sales and Marketing);
LifeScan, Inc.; as well as Johnson & Johnson Sales and Logistics Company, LLC.
Except for the MLDP program at LifeScan, Inc., these programs do not offer
rotations outside the operating company.

As you look forward to completing your undergrad program, you’re probably
thinking about ways to expand and accelerate your career opportunities. For
qualified students interested in careers in sales and marketing, MLDP may be
exactly what you’re looking for.
During this two-year rotational program, recent graduates can immerse
themselves in sales and marketing roles within a Johnson & Johnson operating
company. MLDP participants receive hands-on, practical training in brand
development, marketing strategies and tactics, project management, budgeting
and analysis, and more.
The MLDP experience is available at three Johnson & Johnson operating
companies:

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., located in Jacksonville, Florida;

LifeScan Inc., located in Milpitas, California; and
-
McNeil-PPC, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson operating company located in Fort
Washington, Pennsylvania, and comprised of three distinct businesses: McNeil
Consumer Healthcare, J&J-Merck, and McNeil Nutritionals, LLC.

Program Benefits

MLDP provides participants with a unique opportunity to experience the
fast-paced and innovative environment of a sales and marketing role within a

Participants have many opportunities to participate in and influence
challenging sales and marketing initiatives, including management of brand
portfolios, management of vendors (including external design agencies),
research and business analysis, and collaboration on cross-functional teams.

At the end of the program, successful participants will have an opportunity to
secure a full-time position within their sponsoring company’s marketing team.

The Rotational Experience
-
The two-year MLDP experience at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care is divided
between three distinct rotations. Your first rotation will last for nine
months and will be with the Vision Care marketing team. Your second nine-month
rotation will be with another Johnson & Johnson operating company’s marketing
team. Your last rotation will bring you back to Vision Care for six months to
work with the sales team.

Participants in the two-year MLDP at LifeScan, Inc. will have the opportunity
for three eight-month rotations between other Johnson & Johnson operating
companies. Currently, participants have the option of rotating to Vistakon, an
eye and vision care business; McNeil Consumer Healthcare; and BabyCenter, LLC,
a Johnson & Johnson business dedicated to providing information and support
for mothers and babies.

For MLDP at LifeScan, each rotation will include a variety of assignments
based on the needs of each particular business at the time participants begin
their rotation. The first and third eight-month rotations will focus on brand
marketing initiatives; the second rotation on sales.

The two-year MLDP with McNeil also includes three eight-month rotations. The
first and third eight-month rotations will focus on marketing at one of the
McNeil companies in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania; the middle rotation will
focus on sales at the Walmart Customer Office in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Training

For MLDP within Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., training begins at the
outset of the program, with a Vision Care “boot camp.” During this training,
participants receive a thorough overview of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care,
Inc. and its sales and marketing practices and experiences, and meet the
people they’ll be working with during the program.

Opportunities for cross-company and corporate training may also be available
at various points throughout the program.

Training for MLDP with McNeil companies involves such concepts as leadership
development, communication skills, career management, time management, and
other ideas to gain understanding of sales and marketing initiatives.

Coaching and Development
-
MLDP participants at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care are encouraged to choose a
mentor when they enter the program. Selection of a mentor is generally based
on compatibility. MLDP participants are guided in the mentor selection process
by senior program staff.

In addition to the mentors, MLDP participants may also have access to company
leaders at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. These leaders will also help
guide participants’ progress during the two-year program duration.

Participants in MLDP at LifeScan, Inc. will be assigned a mentor to oversee
their progress through the entire program, as well as a manager for each
eight-month rotation.

MLDP participants with McNeil companies are not assigned a formal mentor for
the program, but as they move through the rotations, they will acquire a
number of informal mentors to guide their progress. Coaches and program
leaders are also available to guide participants to successful outcomes.

Program Completion and Post-Program Expectations

At the end of the third and final rotation in the MLDP program at Johnson &
Johnson Vision Care, Inc., participants are evaluated based on their
performance during the entire two-year program.

Participants who successfully complete the MLDP program will have an
opportunity to secure a full-time position as an Associate Product Director at
Johnson & Johnson Vision Care; LifeScan; Inc. or one of the McNeil companies.
(This role, if entered outside the scope of MLDP, is typically filled by
individuals with MBAs.)

Sales Leadership Development Program (SLDP)
SLDP provides high-potential college graduates an opportunity to enter a
two-year rotational program at one of three Johnson & Johnson businesses:
Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.; Johnson & Johnson Sales and Logistics
Company, LLC; or LifeScan, Inc.
Depending on which business they join, participants will gain experience in a
variety of sales-related initiatives, including brand awareness, sales
strategies and tactics, in-store and point-of-sale programs, merchandising and
promotions, budget and data analysis, and more.

The Rotational Experience
-
The participant in the SLDP program at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care or
LifeScan, Inc. will not typically rotate to other Johnson & Johnson operating
companies or businesses. Instead, they will join an intensive, 12- to 18-month
immersion program within Johnson & Johnson Vision Care or LifeScan.
-
Participants in the SLDP program within the Johnson & Johnson Sales and
Logistics Company will experience rotations within one operating company. In
doing so, they will experience two distinct and formal 12-month cycles
designed to manage their progression through the SLDP program. The initial
year one cycle is focused on establishing a strong foundation in terms of
understanding the company culture, its brands and practices, the marketplace,
and basic skills and procedures. Year two concentrates on applying the lessons
learned in year one to direct engagement with customers or global business
units.

Training

SLDP at Johnson & Johnson Sales and Logistics Company begins with a
comprehensive two-week training session, followed by quarterly learning and
development training sessions. These meetings are meant to provide the
participant with the foundational tools and company information needed to
become a successful sales professional.

The Johnson & Johnson Vision Care SLDP training typically involves an
intensive introduction to Vision Care sales practices, including training on
the Vision Care product line, features and benefits, sales training, and
specific training on “inside sales” to other units of the company.

Coaching and Development

All SLDP participants, regardless of the company they work for, will be
assigned a peer mentor to advise and coach them throughout the program. This
mentor will serve as a valuable resource and guide during the program.

In addition, ad hoc guidance will be provided by manager-level colleagues and
field sales personnel.

Program Completion and Post-Program Expectations

Upon successful completion of the two-year SLDP experience with Johnson &
Johnson Sales and Logistics Company, you will have the opportunity to secure a
full-time associate-level position in the sales organization. Associate-level
positions may include Customer Business Analyst, Account Representative,
Customer Insight Analyst, and more.

Upon successful completion of the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and LifeScan
programs you will be promoted to a field sales position.

The Research & Development Leadership Program (RDLP) presents opportunities

The Rotational Experience

The RDLP experience totals two years, divided between three distinct
rotations. While participating in the RDLP program, participants will be
located at one of our operating sites in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or
California.

RDLP consists of two nine-month rotations, one at the beginning of the program
and the other at the end, within the R&D Product Development Group. The middle
six-month rotation is with an R&D Specialty Area (which may include Regulatory
Affairs, Scientific Affairs, Clinical Affairs, R&D Quality, Professional
Affairs, or other specialty group).

Participants work directly with current business leaders who will provide
mentoring and support during the program, and who will share important
feedback at the completion of each rotation.
