Enabling small-company environments
The Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is comprised of over 250
autonomous operating companies located around the world. These operating
companies are the engines of our business, each responsible in their own way
for growing the larger business, as well as making a positive difference in the
health and well-being of the customers they serve.
Each operating company has considerable leverage and independence within
their particular business, and is responsible for creating and implementing
business plans, budgets, and product launches, as well as forecasting,
performance tracking, properly allocating resources, and much more.
Operating companies in all global locations employ local workers, address
local needs, and work with local business and cultural leaders in order to make
the most beneficial and long-lasting impact.
For each employee, these operating companies provide outstanding
opportunities to build a career within a small-company environment with the
breadth of opportunity and impact that only a big company can offer.
Product franchises are grouped within one of our principal global
businesses, and each of them encompasses multiple operating companies. They
work alongside individual operating companies in order to fulfill each
operating company’s missions and goals. These product franchises are
responsible for research, development, production, and marketing of the
products and brands that consumers and medical professionals know and
trust. Other product franchises support our operating companies by
providing specialized services such as Internet-based resources, sales and
logistics services, etc.
At the top of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies organization are
three Group Operating Committees, one for each of our three business segments
(Consumer, Medical Devices and Diagnostics, and Pharmaceuticals).
Each Group Operating Committee is responsible for providing global strategic
leadership for all product franchises within its business segment, including
ensuring alignment between product portfolios, directing investment decisions
among and within segment product franchises, selection and positioning of
product categories, and overseeing the overall health and vitality of the
individual franchises.
